D'Agostin enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to work with a professional Chinese crew of quality inspectors, whom he supervised, on the construction of Jin Mao Tower. He selected the stones in China and Italy and also sourced fabrication shops in both these countries. He also supervised the work of 11 local marble contractors, nine local fabricators and two Chinese quarries. In total, he was responsible for a workforce of 800 tradespeople. D'Agostin has, to this day, enormous professional respect for the Chinese subcontractors with whom he worked and particularly admired their efficiency.

The plaza fountain was a very intricate design that challenged the team, but they excelled in all aspects. The base of the tower and the entire facade podium is Zimbabwe and Blue Orissa and the finish is 'flamed' (heat-treated). The auditorium columns, which include 60 separate units, are also Zimbabwe. The office lobby comprises filled and unfilled (cladding) Travertine and the mega columns are China Black. The podium food court is a combination of Verde Eleganza and Rosso Alicante. The observatory floor is Black Galaxy from India, with brass inserts and Verde Eleganza on the walls. The sixth floor of the podium is resplendent in Samba white, while the auditorium floor halls are Juparana and Zimbabwe. The link is in Travertine. Jin Mao Building, the highest building in China and the third highest building in the world, was designed by Famous American Architect SOM (Slidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP) based in CHICAGO (USA) and built by SCG (Shanghai Construction Group).
