Regis
D'Agostin's brief for the façade, interior
stonework, driveway and swimming deck at this
South Beverly Hills mansion was complex, because
of its immense scope and the range of materials
required. The challenge was compounded when he
had to establish his own stone shop on site. But
he juggled the demands exceptionally well and
counts this work - which comprises marble, granite,
Tervoux, Porto Beige, Rosa Aurora, Crema Marfil,
Calcatta, Verde Eleganzza, Zimbawee and Mahogany
- as one of his greatest accomplishments, not
least because his work has since resisted two
major earthquakes.

Further
details
The
exterior facade in Chauvigny spans an area of 19000
square feet. D'Agostin also selected and imported from
France 200 year old antique pavers for the 6000 square
foot driveway. Antrusde was used to swathe the 4000
square foot swimming deck.
The
interior stonework comprised 6600 square foot limestone
floors. Five bathrooms, spanning a total area of 3800
square foot, were constructed in marble. The project
also included a substantial 2200 square foot granite
kitchen. The interior boasts ionic columns (14'0""
high) and 13 antique fireplaces, which D'Agostin selected
in and imported from France. There interior features
blocks of Tervoux and a combination of 3/4" and
3" slabs of Chauviny, Porto Beige, Rosa Aurora,
Crema Marfil, Calcatta, Verde Eleganzza, Zimbawee and
Mahogany.
When
the local fabricator went bankrupt at the beginning
of the project, D'Agostin quickly responded by setting
up a stone shop on site and employing a crew of 20 fabricators
and 16 other workers. With only one week ahead of setting
in the schedule, he succeeded in fabricating high quality
materials. Meanwhile, he had prepared stone drawing
and cutting lists for all of the discrete projects and
sourced the stone from the supplier, Rocamat, and also
supervised all tradespeople, from cabinet makers to
plumbers.
